Tragedy in Geneva

There were numerous people who witnessed and/or were impacted by Sunday's tragic murder suicide. This includes first responders, several community members who witnessed the event, and of course the victim's family and friends. Many people have been impacted by this traumatic event, which can have ongoing effects impacting individual, family and overall community health and well-being. Family Counseling Service of the Finger Lakes would like to extend to first responders as well as those who may have witnessed or have otherwise been affected by this event, free counseling and support services by trained licensed masters level trauma therapists.

FCSFL has also been dedicated to helping build trauma informed communities in an effort to better identify and reach those in need and increase supports in an effort to combat adverse childhood experiences and trauma. As a lead provider of trauma services, including domestic violence support and advocacy services, it is our hope and intent to reach out to those who are in need of trauma counseling as a result of.

In addition, we will continue to provide community outreach in an effort to reduce further tragedies through increased community awareness around the significance of domestic violence within our communities, and by providing education and resources to those in need.
